Two are the basic aspect of nursery La Palmara:

The creation of our own novelty and a careful selection of new citrus from everywhere.

The multiplication and trading on a large scale of the cross-breeding of progenitress variety, with the purpose to trasmit to the descendants the best genetic characters, both estetic and physiological (resistance and virgour of the plants).

The plants are then checked through a series of tests, which last from 5 to 7 years, during that period many parameters are taken in consideration, as the quality and quantity of the "zaghere", the size and the ripeness of the fruits, the vigour, the resistance to illnesses, etc.
It's a long and difficult job, but fascinanting fort he uncertainty of the result and for the creation of new citrus fruits with different fruits from those already existent.
